2024 started a little slow with volumes down 10-15% according to most recyclers, but the coming months are looking promising. The PET market is improving, and scrap value is increasing. PRCC was able to help the processing fee by contributing to the passing of SB353.
California Recyclers should start to look out for more wine and spirits containers coming through the system, an estimated 2 Million bottles. We expect a majority of these bottles to come through curbside pickup initially before people catch on and save their bottles.
Beginning January 1, 2025, unserved dealers will be required to either redeem in-store or join a Dealer Cooperative. CalRecycle is currently developing regulations to implement these changes.
